COURT TO HEAR PLEA OF SALLU'S TAX CASE

The Bombay High Court will soon hear a petition filed by the income tax (IT) department pertaining to a 10-year-old case involving alleged tax evasion of Rs.40 million by BOLLYWOOD ACTOR SALMAN KHAN

The IT department has challenged an order of the income tax appellate tribunal which had earlier ruled in the actor's favour. He was found to have allegedly evaded the tax during the assessment year 2000-01.

According to IT sources, Khan had declared his income as Rs.9.32 crore during 2000-01 which was later found to be Rs.13.61 crore.

Khan challenged the IT department's assessment order before the IT commissioner (appeals) who ruled in his favour.

The IT department followed it up with an appeal before the tribunal which also ruled in Khan's favour.

Now, the department has sought the quashing of the tribunal's order.

"IT WASN'T ME"--RANBIR KAPOOR

A little over a year ago, Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone were the hottest couple in Bollywood. Then they broke up, but chose to keep the reason for the split to themselves. But now, in an interview with fashion magazine Verve, Deepika has blamed “her man” for straying twice, before she caught him red handed.

Since they made no efforts to hide their relationship, everyone assumes that the ‘betraying lover’ is Ranbir. “I read the article too and since Deepika didn’t mention any names, how can you say that she’s talking about me?” he argues. “She is a dear friend and I’m fond of her.”


Ranbir insists that they are still in touch and she even called to wish him on his birthday on Tuesday. They are even open to working in another movie if they like the script.

They were to do Anurag Basu’s next, tentatively titled Silence, in which Kapoor plays a deaf-mute. But Padukone has opted out of it. “If she’s not convinced about the role, she has every right to not take up the film,” he reasons.

When questioned about his alleged link-ups with Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra, Ranbir admits that rumours did bother him: “When I was in a relationship earlier, I was open about it. I’m saying I’m single and I’m not lying.”

Currently, the actor is making the most of the additional week that the Anjaana Anjaani team got to promote the film. It was to release on September 24 but was pushed ahead to avoid a clash with the Ayodhya verdict, which was subsequently delayed to September 30. Any apprehensions? “Nope. Whatever the verdict, I hope peace prevails and no one resorts to violence,” he says fervently. “We travelled to more places to spread awareness about the film. Now, we can only wait for the audience’s

verdict.”

In a recent interview, mum Neetu Kapoor says that he makes the best jodi with Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif. “That’s nice but I hope to make a good pairing with other co-actors too. I’d like people to believe that I’m in love with all the heroines on screen,” he say.

KAREENA OR "DABOO"

Kareena Kapoor, who is often called by her nick name ‘Bebo’, will be called by the name Daboo in the sequel of Golmaal. The lovely actress is excited about her name in Golmaal 3.

Bebo was called Ekta in Golmaal Returns and she was playing the role of a housewife, who was fond of television serials involving gossips. Interestingly, actor Tusshar Kapoor, who is the brother of television queen Ekta Kapoor, played the role of her brother in the film. In third series of Golmaal, Kareena will take up the nick name of her father Randhir Kapoor. Her father’s nick name is Daboo and she insisted to be called up by that name in the film for emotional reasons.

The news was confirmed by Kareena, who was quoted saying that it sounds very funny and yet emotional for her. The actress added that her character’s name is Daboo, who is a total ‘chavanni chaap’. She loves the fun name, which is also perfect for her character. Kareena said that she is very happy to take this name of her father and hopes that her movie works well for her. She is expecting that her papa’s name turns lucky for her but she is not sure whether it will happen.

KATRINA INJURED........AGAIN.......

Bollywood beauty Katrina Kaif suffered an injury on the sets of Yash Raj Film's untitled project with Imran Khan. The film is being shot at Pataudi Palace in Haryana.

The actress was hurt during filming and ended up with a bloody nose, due to an error of judgment on her co-star's part.

Strangely, she was hurt in the same spot where she'd been previously injured during the shoot of Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani when Ranbir accidentally landed a blow on her face.

A source from the sets reveals what happened. "They were shooting a funny scene in which Imran is holding a gun in his hand and Katrina is by his side. He had to move around and pull Kat toward him with the other hand. But while shooting, he accidentally smashed the barrel of his gun on Katrina's nose. It happened in a split second and her nose started bleeding."

"Everyone panicked because there was blood oozing from her nose. The shooting stopped and she was escorted to the vanity van. A doctor was called on the set and she was administered first aid. After a while the bleeding stopped, but she was still in pain," said a source.

Yes, I got hit in the same place as I did during Ajab. I am pretty bruised but the staff feels it's good luck for the film. But it was a funny scene so I think it was worth it." said kat...

Sources report that Priyanka Chopra’s father Dr Ashok Chopra failed to recognize her in her make-up as an old woman. On that particular day, Priyanka was shooting a sequence with legendary actor Naseeruddin Shah in which she was playing a 65-year-old woman. In Saat Khoon Maaf which is director Vishal Bhardwaj’s upcoming film, Priyanka is playing roles for ladies from 17 years old to 65 years old. Professional make-up artists have been hired and specially flown down from Australia to create all these various looks. The make-up artist had done such a fabulous job with Priyanka, that she looked very older with her wrinkled hands and feet, it feels like she had been actually transformed into an old woman.

Saat Khoon Maaf is a Hindi Drama, Black Comedy and thriller film being directed by Vishal Bharadwaj, starring Priyanka Chopra in the title role. Saat Khoon Maaf is based on Susanna’s Seven Husbands a book by Ruskin Bond, about a woman who bumps off her seven spouses. CELEBS LOVES CHARITY

Bollywood has come together to raise money for charity. Amitabh Bachchan is auctioning off a lunch date with him to raise funds for charity. His fan frenzy has shown tremendous results as the bid has risen to Rs 6 lakhs within hours of its announcement.

Though the bidding started at Rs 1001 yesterday in an online market ebay, now it has touched the whooping amount of 6 lakhs.

Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar are also a part of in the bidding activity for the fund raiser. A breakfast with the Bollywood's Khiladi is currently amounting to Rs 4,52,000.

The person who wins the bid will get to meet and spend some time with Amitabh Bachchan. Mr. Bachchan will answer all the questions about him in the date. The person will be allowed to click pictures with Big B and will get a personal autograph from him.

The actor will mark the 'Joy of Giving' week in collaboration with eBay, with his lunch date. The money collected from this bidding will go to a charitable organisation which will be decided by Mr. Bachchan himself.

On the Joy of Giving week Bangalore based NGO, CMCA (Children's Movement for Civic Awareness) is also auctioning a lunch date with actress Raveena Tondon.

Bipasha and John to compete each other

Bollywood’s hot couple Bipasha Basu and John Abraham are going great with their relationship since last nine years. They survived all their alleged relationship with their respective co-stars and after all the ups and downs they have remained a strong a hot couple of Bollywood.

But, this October 15, the couple will go through an ‘acid test’! Well, there is nothing personal about it. Actually, on this particular day, both the actors are going to have their latest releases. Bipasha Basu and Ajay Devgn starrer movie Aakrosh, which is based on honor killings in the state of Haryana, was set to hit the theaters on October 1. But, the release date of the film by director Priyadarshan got delayed due to the Ayodhya verdict. Now, it will release on the same day with John starrer movie Jhoota Hi Sahi which is produced by Abbas Tyrewala and is a debut film for his wife Pakhi Tyrewala.

The couple will face sheer competition at the Box Office for the first time in their nine year long career in the industry.

Bipasha has shared this on her micro-blogging page Twitter. The actress, who has gone for an issue based movie again after Lamhaa, posted thatJhootha Hi Sahi and Aakrosh are releasing on October 15 and this has happened first time in their nine year long career in Bollywood. The actress has expressed hope that both the movies do well at the Box Office.

Well, it will be a test for the two actors because it will also disclose their popularity among the audience? However, considering the promotions of both the films, it seems both of them belong to totally different genre and there will be different kinds of audience for the two films. 

So, keep guessing who will win the race, Bipasha or John!
